Homemore Days

INTERACTIVE DOCUMENTARY
How might we represent the notion of home?
My Homemore Days is an interactive documentary featuring my experiences abroad and how it impacted my perception of home. Instead of being homeless, the use of homemore aims to reframe the perception of living abroad and provide familiarity and approachability to the big wide world out there. This piece uses story maps and timeline offered by Knight Lab Studio to provide vivid and organized content of experiences. Through the portrayal of various homes around the world, I hope to convey that there is a possibility of finding homes outside of your current interpretation of home.
MY ROLE
As the director and producer, I created the interactive documentary from brainstorming to script writing to coding.

REFLECTION

What would I have done differently?

  • Ask for more feedback. Due to the time constraint, I only incorporated feedback asked in class. I'd like to ask more people that were in the project to incorporate their feedback.
  • Conduct 5 minute interviews rather than having people record their responses for me. I think it would come off more natural and impactful that way.
  • Consistency. The current background doesn't totally reflect the theme of homemore. If I had more time, I would've spent more time on finding a better background and implement a consistent look and feel through the documentary.
